Eindhoven Swim Cup: Ranomi Kromowidjojo Sets Another Textile Best; Mirjam de Koning-Peper Breaks Paralympic World Record


EINDHOVEN, MAJALAH AKUATIK INDONESIA-The Netherlands, April 15. A textile best and a Paralympic world record fell on the final day of what proved to be an outstanding 2012 edition of the Eindhoven Swim Cup.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo cleared the textile best in the women's 50 free with a sterling time of 24.10. The previous textile best had been shared by Inge de Bruijn and Fran Halsall with matching 24.13s. De Bruijn set her previous world record at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, while Halsall checked in with her time at the British Trials last month. With the swim, Kromowidjojo moved up to seventh in the all time rankings. It was her second textile best of the weekend, after downing the 100 free time earlier in the meet.

Marleen Veldhuis raced to second in 24.32, just besting her third-ranked season best of 24.33 from yesterday. Inge Dekker (24.64) and Hinkelien Schreuder (25.29) finished third and fourth in the splash-and-dash. 

In multi-class finals, Mirjam de Koning-Peper took the women's 50 free S6 division in 34.92, clipping her world record in the process. She previously held the record with a 34.94 from last year in Berlin.

Bruno Fratus moved to fourth in the world rankings in the men's 50 free with a scorching 21.87. Only James Magnussen (21.74), Cesar Cielo (21.85) and Florent Manaudou (21.86) have been faster. Stefan Nystrand placed second in 22.08 for 14th in the world rankings, while Sergey Fesikov picked up third in 22.40.

Nick Driebergen won the men's 200 back title in 1:57.96, jumping to 14th in the world rankings on the way. Lukas Rauftin placed a distant second in 2:01.62, while Sander Helderweirt took third in 2:02.45.

Francesco Pavone captured the men's 200 fly in 1:57.06 for 20th in the world rankings. Joeri Verlinden (1:59.81) and Simon Sjodin (2:01.11) rounded out the top three.

Sharon van Rouwendaal touched in 2:10.14 to win the women's 200 back crown. That effort pushed her to 21st in the world rankings. Annemarie Worst placed second in 2:12.82, while Kira Toussaint finished third in 2:13.02.

Lennart Stekelenburg topped the men's 100 breast in 1:01.04, while Joao Luis Gomez Jr. placed second in 1:01.62. Raphael Rodrigues finished third in 1:02.23. Jennie Johansson clipped Moniek Nijhuis, 1:08.29 to 1:08.50, for the women's 100 breast title. Joline Hostman finished third in 1:09.21.

Martina Granstrom claimed the women's 200 fly title in 2:09.09. Ida Marko-Varga (2:12.17) and Katarina Listopadova (2:15.47) finished second and third.

Julia Hassler won the women's 1500 free in 16:42.58, while Judith Stap took second in 17:01.04. Camilla Hattersley wound up third in 17:07.55. Job Kienhuis claimed the men's 1500 free in 15:11.77. Richard Nagy (15:36.72) and Stephen Milne (15:42.63) rounded out the top three.

In multi-class finals, Marc Evers won the men's 100 breast SB14 division title with a 1:11.90. Maurice Deelen posted a men's 100 breast SB8 win in 1:12.67, while Michel Tielbeke took the men's 100 breast SB12 division title in 1:14.85. Magda Toeters took home the women's 100 breast SB14 title in 1:22.13, while Lisa den Braber clocked a 1:38.41 for the women's 100 breast SB7 victory.

Michel Tielbeke won the men's 50 free S12 division in 26.83, while Maurice Deelen matched him with a 26.83 in the S8 division, just half-a-second off the world record of 26.45 set by China's Wang Xiaofu at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. Olivier Victor van de Voort posted a 27.53 to win the men's 50 free S10 division, while Thijs van den End clocked a 29.09 for the men's 50 free S9 division win.

Chantal Molenkamp won the women's 50 free S10 division in 29.35, while Lisette Teunissen topped the women's 50 free S4 division in 46. 59

Eindhoven Swim Cup: Ranomi Kromowidjojo Moves Into Top 10 All Time; Bastiaan Lijesen Posts World Leader - Race Footage Included -- April 14, 2012


EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, MAJALAH AKUATIK INDONESIA-April 14. RANOMI Kromowidjojo remained on fire at the Eindhoven Swim Cup being held this week in long course meter format in The Netherlands.

A day after clocking a textile best in the women's 100 free, Kromowidjojo raced to second in the world with a 24.14 in the women's 50 free semis. Only Fran Halsall has been faster this year with a 24.13 from British Trials. Kromowidjojo's personal-best time jumped her to ninth all time in the event. 

Marleen Veldhuis qualified second in 24.33 for third in the world this year, while Inge Dekker (24.57) and Sarah Sjostrom (24.63) qualified third and fourth in the splash-and-dash. Dekker has been faster with a fourth-ranked 24.42, while Sjostrom jumped to seventh with that swim. During prelims of the women's 200 free, Sjostrom clocked a 1:58.77, three seconds back of her second-ranked 1:55.23 from British Trials. She scratched the finale.

Sjostrom cruised to victory in the women's 100 fly with a 58.08. That swim was well short of her world-leading 56.79 from the British Trials last month. Martina Granstrom placed second in 59.07, while Danielle Villars took third in 1:00.37.

Bastiaan Lijesen clocked a world-leading time of 24.79 in the men's 50 back, clearing the 24.81 set by Camille Lacourt in France last month. Lijesen pushed himself to 16th in the all-time rankings with his swim. Guilherme Guido finished second in 24.94 for fourth in the world this year, while Nick Driebergen touched third in 25.25.

Joeri Verlinden claimed the men's 100 fly crown in 52.07 for fifth in the world rankings. Gabriel Mangabeira placed second in 52.97, while Henrique Martins took third in 53.74.

Bruno Fratus moved to 11th in the world this year in the men's 50 free with a 21.99 in prelims, then clocked a 22.00 during semis for the top seed. Stefan Nystrand (22.19) and Sergey Fesikov (22.31) took second and third in semifinal qualifying.

Sebastiaan Verschuren clipped Dion Dreesens, 1:47.38 to 1:47.61, for the men's 200 free title. Verschuren moved up to 12th in the world with the swim, while Dreesens earned 18th. Arjen van der Meulen wound up third in 1:50.50.

Wendy van den Zanden won the women's 200 free finale in 2:00.44, while Rieneke Terink placed second in 2:00.60. Andrea Kneppers earned third in 2:00.62 in what proved to be a close top three. Sebas van Lith posted a 4:23.66 to claim the men's 400 IM title. Simon Sjodin (4:24.21) and Davy Verreussel (4:27.86) rounded out the top three in the event. Maaike de Waard and Annemarie Worst tied for the women's 50 back title with matching 29.44s. Esmee Bos picked up third in 29.52.

In multi-class finals, Marlou van der Kulk won the women's 200 free S14 event in 2:11.83. She doubled up with a 1:10.88 to win the women's 100 fly S14 division, while Chantal Molenkamp posted a 1:14.32 to win the women's 100 fly S10 division.

Mike van den Zanden clocked a 58.94 to win the men's 100 fly S10 division. Meanwhile, Marc Evers touched in 1:01.30 to win the men's 100 fly S14 division. Thijs van den End earned the men's 100 fly S9 division win with a 1:10.91. (swimmingworldmagazine)

Pakaian Renang Biarawati Seksi Kate Upton Menuai Protes



MAJALAH AKUATIK INDONESIA - Model bertubuh semok, Kate Upton, yang bermain sebagai biarawati seksi di film The Three Stooges menuai protes kalangan agama Katolik di Amerika Serikat (AS). Demikian diberitakan Daily Mail, Sabtu (14/4/2012).
Model berusia 19 tahun dan bertubuh semok ini dikenal sebagai model di Majalah  Sports Illustrated. Di film The Three Stooges, remaja kelahiran 10 Juni 1992 ini memainkan karakter Suster Bernice dan memakai pakaian renang lengkap dengan penutup kepala ala biarawati dan salib yang ada di belahan dadanya.
Namun, karakter dalam film komedi ini mendapat protes dari kelompok The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights yang didirikan pada tahun 1973 ini. Kelompok keagamaan ini menuduh perusahaan film 20th Century Fox melakukan hal yang serampangan dan jauh dari ide asli dari serial tersebut.
"Pada tahun 1950-an, Hollywoodmenghindari hal-hal seperti itu dan menghargai agama. Saat ini, mereka melakukan hal-hal yang kasar dan menghina agama Kristen khususnya Katolik," kata juru bicara Bill Donohue.
"Film ini bukan hanya sekadar menunjukkan pembuatan ulang namun memperlihatkan sesuatu yang menjadi penanda perubahan kultural yang signifikan dan perubahan itu sama sekali tidak bisa diterima," jelasnya.
Namun, 20th Century Fox menyerang balik dengan mengatakan alasan film itu dibuat. "Film ini tetap memiliki semangat yang sama dari serial yang asli dan para bintangnya. Ini adalah komedi slapstik," demikian ujar juru bicara Fox. (TRIBUNNEWS.COM)

Perenang Jatim ke luar negeri matangkan persiapan PON XVIII


Surabaya MAJALAHAKUATIKINDONESIA - Sebanyak 16 atlet renang Jawa Timur (Jatim) yang disiapkan menghadapi Pekan Olahraga Nasional XVIII/2012 akan mematangkan persiapan dengan menjalani latihan di luar negeri, yakni Chinadan Singapura.
Manajer Pemusatan Latihan Daerah (Puslatda) Renang Jatim, Reswanda Tarsoni, ketika dihubungi wartawan di Surabaya, Minggu, mengatakan, sebanyak 12 atlet dijadwalkan berlatih ke China dan empat atlet lainnya dikirim ke Singapura.
"Kami ingin anak-anak mendapatkan iklim latihan yang berbeda dan disesuaikan dengan potensi yang dimiliki masing-masing atlet," katanya.
Program latihan di luar negeri tersebut direncanakan pada Mei dan telah mendapatkan persetujuan dari KONI Jatim.
Renang menjadi salah satu cabang olahraga prioritas yang diberi kesempatan berlatih dan uji coba ke luar negeri, karena dibebani target sebanyak tujuh medali emas.
"Untuk merealisasikan target itu, kami harus mempersiapkan atlet dengan semaksimal mungkin karena persaingan di PON sangat ketat. Kami optimistis kemampuan anak-anak bisa meningkat setelah berlatih di luar negeri," ujar Reswanda.
Perenang andalan Jatim yang dikirim ke luar negeri antara lain Enny Susilowati, Febriani Ratna Marita dan Omar Suryaatmadja.
Beberapa waktu sebelumnya, Pengprov Persatuan Renang Seluruh Indonesia (PRSI) Jatim juga mengirim beberapa atlet puslatda untuk berlatih di China.
Ketua Harian PRSI Jatim Herlambang Wijaya menambahkan, pihaknya telah menjaring satu perenang tambahan di sektor putra, yakni Epifani Gunadi, untuk melengkapi kuota 16 atlet.
"Epifani kami tarik masuk puslatda setelah meraih prestasi bagus di ajang kejurda pekan lalu," ujarnya.
Perenang asal Klub Hiu Surabaya itu memiliki potensi bagus di nomor gaya dada jarak 50, 100 dan 200 meter, serta estafet.
Herlambang mengatakan, pesaing terberat Jatim untuk mengejar target tujuh medali emas akan datang dari perenang Jawa Barat, selain juga atlet dari DKI Jakarta. (ANTARA)

Murray Rose Tutup Usia



SYDNEY—MAJALAH RENANG INDONESIA-MICOM: Murray Rose, peraih empat medali emas renang untuk Australia meninggal dunia pada Minggu (15/4) di usia 73.
Persatuan Renang Australiamenyebut Rose meninggal karena leukemia.
Perenang kelahiran Skotlandia itu memenangkan tiga medali emas di Olimpiade Melbourne 1956 dan menjadi pahlawan nasional di usia 17 tahun.
Dia kemudian memenangkan satu medali emas, satu perak, dan satu perunggu pada empat tahun kemudian di Roma.
"Saya sangat terpukul dengan meninggalnya salah satu atlet renang terbaik Australia yang merupakan sahabat saya," ujar John Konrads yang mengalahkan Rose di nomor 1.500 meter gaya bebas di Roma.
"Murray Rose adalah teladan bagi perenang Australia. Kesuksesannya menjadi inspirasi bagi generasi perenang Australia selanjutnya. Doa kami bersama keluarga dan sahabatnya pada saat ini," ujar Presiden Persatuan Renang Australia Davis Urquhart. (mediaindonesia)

PRSI Mencari Bibit Muda untuk Atlet Renang


BANDUNG, MAJALAH RENANG INDONESIA.- Persatuan Renang Seluruh Indonesia (PRSI) Jabar menyelengarakan Gubernur Cup III dan BJB Cup II di Kolam Renang Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia(UPI) Jalan Setiabudi Bandung. Even itu bertujuan untuk mencari bibit muda dalam menghadapi Pekan Olah raga (PON). Even akan berlangsung dari tanggal 13-15 April.

Ketua Bidang Pembinaan dan Prestasi (Binpres) KONI Jawa Barat, Yudha M Saputra menuturkan, adanya even ini untuk melatih kemampuan atlet. Selain itu, kegiatan ini bagus untuk pemanasan sebelum bertanding.

“Kejuaran ini merupakan cara objektif untuk mencari atlet pilihan dengan melihat sejauh mana prestasi atlet tersebut. Selain itu, even ini sebagai parameter yang efektif untuk mengukur diri dalam latihan," katanya.

Kejuaraan Renang Antar Kota/Kabupaten Se-Jawa Barat Gubernur Cup III 2012 diikuti Peserta dari 17 kota/kabupaten. Peserta tersebut diwakili oleh 83 peserta putra dan 53 peserta putri.

Di tempat yang sama, Kejuaraan Renang Antar Perhimpunan Se-Indonesia BJB Cup II diikuti peserta dari 53 perkumpulan renang. Peserta tersebut diwakili oleh 213 putra, 228 putri.

Dalam even ini, peserta dibagi kedalam beberapa kelompok. Untuk Gubernur Cup hanya diperuntukan bagi kelompok I (kelahiran 1994-1996) dan II (kelahiran 1997-1998). Sedangkan untuk BJB Cup, hanya bagi kelompok III (kelahiran 1999-2000), IV(kelahiran 2001-2002), dan V(kelahiran 2003-2004).

Pada pertandingan hari Jumat (13/4) akan dipertandingkan gaya bebas 400m (kelompok 1-3), 200m gaya punggung (kelompok 1-3),100m gaya kupu – kupu (kelompok1-5), 200m gaya ganti perorangan (kelompok 1-5), 50m gaya dada (kelompok1-5), dan Estapet 4x50m kupu – kupu (kelompok 1-5).

Eindhoven Swim Cup: Sarah Sjostrom Posts World-Leading Effort in Semis


EINDHOVEN, MAJALAH RENANG INDONESIA-The Netherlands, April 12. THE Eindhoven Swim Cup kicked off in The Netherlands with Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom continuing to add to her resume as an Olympic gold medal favorite this summer. 

In semifinal action, Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom jumped to the top of the world rankings with a scorching 53.29 in the women's 100 free. That swim clipped Ranomi Kromowidjojo's previous pacesetter of 53.30 from Amsterdam last month, and is in striking distance of Sjostrom's textile best of 53.05 from Eindhoven last year. Kromowidjojo finished second in semis with a 53.60, while Marleen Veldhuis (54.15) and Inge Dekker (54.43) took third and fourth. Veldhuis improved to 17th in the world with her swim, while Dekker moved into the top 25. Sebastiaan Verschuren topped the men's 100 free semis in 49.15. Stefan Nystrand (49.46) and Emmanuel Vanluchene (49.79) completed the top three qualifiers. 

Jennie Johansson edged Moniek Nijhuis for the women's 50 breast title, 31.52 to 31.57. Johansson has been faster this year with a second-ranked 31.24 from Amsterdam last month, while Nijhuis' best is a seventh-ranked 31.49 from Antwerpin January. Anouk Elzerman wound up third in 32.15. 


Joao Luiz Gomez Jr. topped the men's 50 breast in 27.82 to move up to a fifth-ranked tie with Li Xiayin. His previous best had been an eighth-ranked 27.92 from prelims today. Lennart Stekelenburg took second in 28.01 for 14th in the world, while Bram Dekker placed third in 28.06 for 16th in the world. 

Wendy van den Zanden captured the women's 200 IM title in 2:13.14, tying for 25th in the world rankings this year. Martin Granstrom placed second in 2:17.01, while Stefania Pirozzi wound up third in 2:17.13. Sebas van Lith won the men's 200 IM crown in 2:02.64. Mike Marissen (2:04.20) and Jens Bakker (2:04.26) rounded out the top three. 

Julia Hassler won the women's 400 free in 4:14.03. Katarina Filova touched second in 4:17.07, while Judith Stap earned third in 4:17.31. David Carry followed with a 3:50.52 to win the men's 400 free. Dion Dreesens (3:52.00) and Richard Nagy (3:55.58) finished second and third. (swimmingworldmagazine)
